About  Lee Parnell

Experience

As a Sports Massage Therapist & Personal trainer I’m interested in how people move, what restrictions they have and how injuries occur. During a treatment my main aim is to promote quality movement of the muscles and joints.

I trained at the London School of Sports Massage (LSSM) which is widely regarded as a leader in its field. I later worked as a tutor for them helping to train the next generation of Therapists at their Brighton venue.

I am passionate about all things health and fitness related. I’m a keen runner and completed two Marathons in the Spring of 2018. My main sport however is Beach Volleyball which i’ve been playing for many years now. In May 2019 I was part of the Medical Team and Lead Sports Massage Therapist at the 2020 Olympic qualifying event held in London. I worked with players from the England & French teams & I still work regularly with several international players including England International Issa Batrane.

I Have been working from the treatment room at Linear Health & Fitness for over four year now and in Spring 2018 I co-founded The Bodyhub Brighton treatment room as part of the Sea Lanes development on Brighton seafront. I am available for treatments at both venues.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to find out how I can help.

Treatments

Sports massage has evolved! It’s moved beyond just being an uncomfortable “deep tissue” massage. There are many highly effective techniques available to a well trained Therapist. It’s about listening to the client and their body and working with it, not against it.

My treatments are suitable for virtually anyone, from professional sports men and women, the weekend warriors and people that lead more sedentary lives. The particulars of each treatment are specific to you and will focus on areas of your body that need it most. I listen and feel for what your body needs and work with it rather than just following a prescribed routine.

There are so many benefits to getting treatment at any time. You don’t need to have an injury or be in pain to come and see me. Although the reality is that this is when most people book their first treatment with me. Sports Massage is a great form of treatment for soft tissue injuries. It is particularly effective on all types of muscle and joint pain whether it was caused by your sport or is a work related injury.

With more regular treatments you can enhance your training, reduce recovery time and boost your performance. It will promote flexibility, help prevent injuries, and improve your body awareness.

Sports Massage Therapy is an essential component of any balanced training or fitness regime so why not get in touch to find a plan that will work best with your schedule, level of activity and budget.

  • I went to see Lee after weeks of suffering with shoulder pain. I felt so much better after just one treatment and had no pain at all after my second treatment. I can’t recommend Lee highly enough!

  • Receiving treatment from Lee at my Olympic Qualification beach volleyball tournament was perfect as he helped sort out a few sore areas and had me in top condition to go out and compete at a high level! Would definitely recommend as a professional but also a great personality throughout treatment.

  • What I liked about Lee's treatment was how thorough he was; he not only treated the areas where I was tight, but identified areas where there were imbalances in my body, suggested reasons for them and gave me exercises and tips on how to improve them. I left Lee's session feeling great and having an excellent action plan on how to improve to make sure my body is as robust as possible.

  • Lee was a personal recommendation for my hamstring injury. I found him very personable. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional at all times and practices a varied range of techniques which he tailors to your needs. I felt very relaxed and confident in his abilities. I had a course of six sessions and went from excruciating pain and limited movement to minimal discomfort and full range of movement once again. I can’t recommend Lee highly enough and I shall certainly be visiting him again for maintenance and any future injuries. Thank you Lee!

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I see you for a treatment?

I work from the treatment room at Linear Health & Fitness in Borde Hill Gardens, Haywards Heath, RH16 1XP

You can also see me at The Bodyhub Brighton which is part of the Sea Lanes project on the seafront 284 Maderia Drive, BN2 1EN

How do I cancel an appointment?

Simply follow the link in your booking confirmation or reminder email. then simply rebook a new appointmenmt at a time you can make. If you no longer have the email you will need to contact me directly.

Are you insured?

Yes, I am fully insured as both a Therapist and a Personal Trainer. I am also registered with the Institute of Sports & Remedial Massage (ISRM).

How much does a treatment cost?

£47.50 for a 45 minute appointment. You can pay by cash or card.

What should I wear?

As you may be quite active during the treatment it’s a good idea to wear something you are comfortable in. For lower body treatments, sports shorts are ideal. For women, a modest rear fastening bra is a good idea. Try to avoid sports bras for any back, neck or shoulder problems as they restrict access to many muscles.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

I will go through a medical questionnaire with you to make sure it is appropriate to treat you. If you have any specific injuries I will ask some more detailed questions to ensure you receive the best possible treatment and aftercare advice. I will carry out a postural assessment so the treatment can be tailored to your individual needs.

Will it hurt?

No. Sports Massage has a reputation for being painful. However, if the therapist is properly trained in a range of effective techniques then there is no reason it should hurt. Sometimes it is necessary to work quite deeply or apply deep pressure but this should never be too painful.

How many sessions will I need?

It really does depend on the individual. Everyone is different and responds to treatment in different ways. Most people report an improvement after just one session, although it usually takes a couple more to make a lasting change. Once we are on top of any pain or discomfort we can discuss a maintenance plan to make sure it doesn’t return.

What qualifications do you have?

I studied with the London School of Sports Massage (LSSM). I hold a Level 5 BTEC Diploma in Sports Massage & Soft Tissue Therapy. I am also a qualified Personal Trainer and hold various other health and fitness related qualifications.

I’m pregnant, can you still treat me?

Please give me a call to discuss your requirements. If I am unable to treat you then I may be able to refer you to someone that can help.

How long is an appointment?

Your first appointment and most follow ups will be 45 minutes. Shorter appointments may be available based on your treatment plan and requirements.

I have private health care, are your treatments covered by this?

Unfortunately not.

What can you treat?

My treatments can be effective on all types of muscle and joint pain. Regardless of whether they are sports related or not. If you are in pain or discomfort then please get in touch to see if I can help.
